Almotamar.net - Sana’a-Assistant Secretary General of the General People’s Congress (GPC) Dr Ahmed Ubeid bin Daghr has affirmed Sunday, “No one can predict of what matters will go to if the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) remained on the same irresponsible stands towards the homeland.”

In an interview to the Yemeni 26 September weekly Dr Bin Daghr said, “Let’s look with hope to the future and say thee is a real possibility before the active political forces in the national arena to reach an agreement and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has formed a suitable ground for this agreement. “
Bin Daghr assed that there are extremist forces inside the JMP having no interest in reaching any national agreement and would work as much as possible for impeding any trend towards an accord. Nevertheless, “we bet on the good of the sons of homeland in the parties which form the JMP and bet on the good and sincere of other groupings and also of the youth who will give priority to the homeland’s higher interests to all other interest. “

Dr Bin Daghr has clarified that the GPC has supported all initiatives of the President to come out of the crisis and they were highly responsible and flexible in dealing with the developments. President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s main concern has been keeping the country’s unity, security and stability but the brothers in the JMP, in every initiative, were escalating of their demands and raising their political ceilings.

Concerning the GCC initiative , Dr Bin Daghr said,” The GCC initiative as we in the GPC red it and as it is read by any impartial one, has gone to where we have done, “ adding it is true the proposed steps were object of argument and even rejection by the JMP and some of their extremist forces refuse it altogether.

The GPC Assistant Secretary General indicated that the GCC initiative has two components; one related to the basic principles and the other to the executive steps. the basic principles clearly say the goal is [reserving a united, secure and stable Yemen and solutions are to lead to an agreement meeting ambitions of the Yemeni people in change and reform along with guaranteeing safe and smooth transfer of power avoiding he country descending to chaos and violence and that all the parties commit to elimination of elements of political and security tension and all parties should stop chasing after the agreement.

He added that those principles are clear. Any agreement would not keep Yemen united and keep the country away fro chaos and remove elements of tension , before the process of transfer to whosoever obligatory to any one , “ we in the GPC adhere to these principles as a basis for the successive steps. “

On the solutions that can contribute to come out of the crisis Bin Daghr said the solutions within the framework of the higher national interests and framework of an agreed on political solution. It is important the JMP should abandon its coup and conspiratorial schemes on the homeland and the legitimacy. The GCC initiative represents a suitable frame for a political solution if taken as a whole.

Dr Bin Daghr affirmed the necessity that the initiative be executed in accordance to its sequence. Resignation of the President, for instance, would not be made before removing all cues of political and security tension, and the president could not leave presidency while there is a real danger threatening the country’s unity and stability, “I don’t think a reasonable citizen keen on his country would demand him of such a thing. I think the sweeping majority of the society would support this stance. Briefly, removing all causes o tension comes ahead of every following step, namely the sit-ins, the military mutiny, road-blocking, Houthi rebellion, separatist movement and terrorism. “
