Almotamar.net - Head of the Information Office at the ruling General People’s Congress Party (GPC) Tareq al-Shamy has affirmed on Monday that the Yemeni people have decided their decision for an early time with regard to reaching power and have chosen democracy and the ballot box as a sole way for that.

He pointed out that any coup attempt whether through by transitional council or military coup to attain power would be refused by the people of Yemen.

Al-Shamy added that the GPC has called on the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) for dialogue since an early time , and the UN Security Council , in its latest statement on Yemen, called on the Yemeni parties for dialogue at dialogue table and consequently there is no outlet for ending the crisis but via dialogue which must include all the parties including youth, parties and of opposition abroad and in it there would be discussion of all issues ,” but the JMP work for staging coup on the constitution to reach power , that would be refused by our people.”

Al-Shamy clarified that President Ali Abdullah Saleh was elected by the people and has not reached power via a tank or coup and subsequently the one who wants power, he has to go towards elections and the Yemeni people are who chose their rulers.

In his response to a question by Al-Jazeera Channel, al-Shamy said, “Those you call the youth want to imitate what happened in Tunisia and Egypt and who demand election of the president by the people directly and to allow parties to practice their activities, but we in Yemen have been much ahead in this regard and so those who submit a transitional council or other do not realize our political and democratic reality. “

Al-Shamy affirmed that Yemen has made bid steps ahead of Tunisia and Egypt as the president assumes power via competitive elections and under international observation and the Yemeni people are they who choose their rulers and that what was accomplished in the presidential elections in 2006, stressing that those who want to reach power must go to ballot boxes and will of the but not by staging coup on the constitution.
