The President's statement made in a celebration held in the Presidential Palace in Sana'a to mark the first anniversary of the Gulf initiative signed in Riyadh on November 23, 2011 to end a crisis erupted early in the same year in the country.

President Hadi said that We are looking forward to see the political parties provide all harmony and accord factors, which would be reflected positively in the government's performance and dialogue's works.


"The high priority is to carry out the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, however, the government has begun reducing corruption and reforming civil apparatus. He added .


Signing the November deal of power transfer [Gulf initiative] was not the end of the crisis, but it helped in alleviating the political tension and cease the armed conflicts, he said. "The deal is important because it provides a clear roadmap to the deeper transition the country began to go through."

In his part, UN chief Ban Ki-moon said "the transitional stages are always difficult." The transition to democracy requires an open reaction with the past, adding that the November deal has showed the need to the transitional justice and national reconciliation.

The UN chief pointed to the hard challenges Yemen faces, saying that the UN works seriously with other partners to help Yemen to overcome the current humanitarian crisis.

He talked about the significant tasks that have not been achieved yet in the country, including the armed forces reform, saying it was not easy for those who had accustomed to power to realize the necessity of allowing other effectual sides to lead.
