The cabinet on Sunday discussed the legal status of the existing local councils, whose legal tenure was expired on the 20th of current September.

In an extraordinary meeting chaired by Prime Minister, the cabinet reviewed a memorandum of Minister of Legal Affairs on the legal opinion on the expiry of the existing local councils and legal proposals.

After intensive discussions by the ministers taking into account the country's critical situation, the cabinet approved referring to the President and the Prime Minister to take the appropriate action, as stipulated in the Gulf initiative.

The cabinet also reviewed executive procedures for the 20 points proposed by the National Dialogue Preparatory Committee and the 11 points approved by the South team in the dialogue conference to build trust.
