almotamar.net - Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reviewed on Thursday repercussions of the Dammaj conflict on the humanitarian situation in the internally displaced people (IDP) camps of Mizraq.

During his meeting with Head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen Cedric Schweizer, Head of the executive unit of the IDP camps Ahmed al-Kohlani called the ICRC to provide immediate aid of food, water and fuel for the IDP in Mizraq camps, due to the seriousness of the IDP's humanitarian situation, especially after the failure of the World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF to provide such aid to the camps.

Al-Kohlani expressed his fears of the occurrence of a humanitarian catastrophe if armed groups continue to block the Haradh - Mizraq road. They have blocked the road for more than two weeks and prevented emergency aid access to the IDP camps, especially food and water.

He stressed the need to strengthen the partnership between the ICRC and the IDP camps' executive unit in providing aid to the IDP.

Nearly 17,000 displaced families benefit from the food aid in Mizraq camps and distribution centers in Haradh area
