Cihan News Agency - Interior Ministers of Iraq's neighboring countries are scheduled to convene in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah on Monday. Turkish Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu and a Turkish delegation headed by Turkey's special envoy to Iraq Ambassador Oguz Celikkol will represent Turkey during the meeting.
Measures to improve the security situation in Iraq, control borders and prevent illegal exchange of pilgrims and smuggling of weapons are the issues to be discussed in the meeting today.
Officials stated the gathering of the interior ministers of Iraq's neighbors had nothing to do with Iraq's domestic security.
The first and second meetings of the Interior ministers of Iraq's neighboring states were held in Tehran in 2004 and Istanbul in July 2005, respectively.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, Iran, Syria and Jordan are the six neighboring states of Iraq. The interior ministers of Egypt and Bahrain also attend the meetings.
