By:Arif Abu Hatim Almotamar.net - SANAA- the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) said the statement issued recently by parties of Joint Meeting (JMP) �justifies violence under pretext that the elections are unfair�. That came in a comment by the SCER on the JMP refusal to sign a statement called for by the Commission including a request to political parties to give their directions to their members and candidate discarding the use of violence and not to carry weapons during the final days of the election propagation period and the polling day, and issued a unilateral statement instead.
Head of the civil organizations sector at he SCER Alawi al-Mashour affirmed the JMP received a copy of the SCER statement Wednesday and expected to sign it with the GPC on Saturday, but t JMP made changes in the text and added paragraphs to it in a way rendering I different from the agreed on text.
Mr Alawi said in a statement to almotamar.net,� the JMP presented a statement outside the form agreed on by the SCER and the GPC. The JMP statement contains a kind of obstinacy and dictates wanting the GPC to accept,� considering the GPC stance as positive by accepting the form of the SCER statement, calling it to sign on it with the opposition parties.
Te SCER on Wednesday delivered the political parties a draft statement containing their calling of their members and candidates and supporters for abandoning violence and discard weapons. The SCER submission of the draft statement to the political parties was aimed for reading it and tells remarks about it and then to approve the final version of the statement to be signed at the SCER headquarters. The GPC delivered the draft statement to the SCER by Mr. Mohamed Ali Abu Al-Luhoum, head of the foreign relations office and the JMP by Ibrahim al-Haer, head of the election office at the Islah Party, in presence of representatives for Civilian International and local Organizations for observation of toe elections.
