Almotamar Net -  Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed has met in Washington with Chairperson of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee at the Foreign Relations Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.

During the meeting, they discussed aspects of military and development aid, some common security challenges and areas of counterterrorism cooperation in addition of the file of the Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo.

Almotamar.net - Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed has met in Washington with Chairperson of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee at the Foreign Relations Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.

During the meeting, they discussed aspects of military and development aid, some common security challenges and areas of counterterrorism cooperation in addition of the file of the Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Congress is currently considering a proposal of the U.S. administration to allocate nearly $84 million to develop the Yemeni armed forces, especially the air and special operations forces during the current year.

Moreover, the Defense Minister held talks with chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives Howard McKeon over the military aid package earmarked for the Yemeni armed and security forces, as well as the future needs to meet the threats of terrorist organizations.

The Defense Minister hailed the United States support to the political transition process in Yemen, and the partnership between the two countries at various levels.
