By: almotamar.net - SANA'A- In a statement to the General People's Congress (GPC)'s Media Center, Minister of Trade and Industry Khalid Rajeh Sheikh notified citizens not to believe rumors of "a new price hike" that aim to create a state of unjustifiable anxiety.

Sheikh said such rumors target only the citizen and food and goods provisions in the country, and create untrue allegations to link them with the September elections.
Sheikh also affirmed the Ministry's offices and local authorities in various governorates monitor the markets and trading stores to arrest any trader who tries to make use of such rumors to rig prices and refer him to prosecution.

Basic foodstuffs are available in abundance for people during the holy month of Ramadhan and coming months, Sheikh added.
According to Sheikh, 1,238 merchants have been referred to the general prosecution as they violated the specifications, weighing and prices rules in various governorates since August 18 till September 18.
The Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) bloc spread rumor of a "new price hike" through its media and distributing leaflets in various main cities.
