Almotamar.net - The Supreme Security Committee held a special meeting on Tuesday to discuss developments of the military operations against the terrorist elements in provinces of Abyan and Shabwa and the heroic performance by heroes of the armed and security forces as well as the honest tribesmen to defeat the terrorist elements.

The committee extended "the sincerest condolences to the families of the martyrs of the armed and security forces and the nationals of brotherly and friendly countries who were victims of terrorism and extremism."

It pointed out that assassinations of army officers and foreigners in cities were "desperate attempts carried out by elements of the terrorist organization after it suffered heavy losses among it ranks."

"The terrorist resorted to assassinations of members of the armed forces and security forces as well as foreign nationals, the last of whom was a French national, in an attempt to put pressure on the political and military leadership to relieve the pressure of the military and security units that are chasing those elements of the provinces of Shabwa and Abyan," a source at the committee said.

"Such terrorist acts will not discourage the security forces, the armed forces and the patriotic citizens from carrying out their religious and national duty to uproot terrorism wherever it exists," the source said.

The committee urged all people and political parties to stand as one to eliminate terrorism, and called people to report any information that could help uncover those behind the terrorist operations of the al-Qaeda in Sana'a and other provinces and cities.

It called upon the citizens not to cooperate with or shelter any one of those terrorist elements and report any elements or terrorist cells anywhere as these elements represent a major threat to the security and stability of the society.
