The Yemeni woman electoral turnout in such a manner embodies the status she has acquired and her effective participation in the decision-making process.

The number of woman electors in the updated records of the Supreme Commission of Election and Referendum (SCER) constitutes about four million women out of the total of over nine million electors and the proportion of registered woman amounts to forty percent registered in elector records. The number of woman candidates for the local councils for the year 2006 amounts to 185 before the withdrawal of 11 of them, according to statistics of the SCER.
The Yemeni woman has managed to take part in the political life through her joining political parties and integration into the national development and getting some democratic gains which enhance her contributions to political, cultural, economic \activities and she managed to prove leading capabilities at the positions of decision-making.
Indicators and statistics confirm that the role of the Yemeni woman is increasing steadily, her assuming of political positions as well as the strategies drawn up by the state, imposed the woman presence in various areas of economy and development. The woman participation in various walks of life has expanded at both official and private sectors since the declaration of the Yemeni Republic on 2 May 1990 and has been assured by the woman participation in the political, economic, social and cultural life.
