By: Jamil al-Jadabi - SANA'A- Semi-final results of vote-counting show that the candidate of the General People's Congress (GPC), Ali Abdullah Saleh, has got 84 percent of votes, while Faisal Bin Shamlan, candidate of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP), has won 16 percent.
Official sources in vote-counting committees in the governorates of al-Baidha, Marib, al-Mahrah, and Hajjah stated that the semifinal results show that the GPC's candidates to the local councils elections are ahead in these governorates.

Local sources in al-Baidha governorate said the GPC won by 100 percent. In Marib, the polling process was stopped in nine districts out of thirteen districts.
In al-Mahrah governorate, official sources in vote-counting committees told almotamar.net that 17 GPC candidates and one candidate of the JMP won in the local elections.
Preliminary results in Hadhramout governorate show that 10 GPC candidates and 2 JMP candidates won in the local elections.
In Hajjah governorate, GPC candidates won by 85 percent.
As for presidential elections, the GPC candidate won by 80 percent in Marib governorate, and 75 percent in Taiz governorate. In al-Mahrah governorate, preliminary results show that Saleh got 20,000 votes, while Bin Shamlan 5,000 votes. In Hadhramout, Saleh got 27,000 votes, and Bin Shamlan 20,000. In Hajjah, Saleh gained 337,855 votes while Bin Shamlan got 34,097.
