The South Korean won plummeted against the U.S. dollar. The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 32.60 points, or 2.41 percent, to 1,319.40. Volume was heavy at 396 million shares worth 4.47 trillion won (US$4.72 billion) with losers leading gainers 603 to 25.
