almotamar.net - Secretary-General of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdulqader Bajammal affirmed Saturday that democracy and economic and human development would lead Yemen towards a better future.
Chairing a meeting today of the GPC's local permanent committee of the capital secretariat branch rejected what the some submit that the Yemeni society is not qualified yet to dealing with the new trends of applying the local authority law and elections of governors and heads of districts.
He said "The Yemeni people are qualified for free democratic life and proved that practically and no more than 6 months passed on the biggest democratic event in Yemen, i.e. the presidential and local elections on 20 September 2006. He called on all political parties, organisations, academicians and men of intellect and law t hold serious and constructive dialogues for the enhancement of democracy in all walks of life including development of the local authority in the governorates and districts of Yemen.
The GPC's secretary general also hailed the people f Yemen on the Day of Democracy on 27 April and the 1st of May the Labour Day as well as his greetings for all workers in the education sector o the occasion of the Teacher Day.
Today meeting also witnessed a reading and discussion of a repot by the committee of the organisation monitoring and financial inspection of the capital secretariat branch in addition to the issues on the agenda of the meeting.
