Almotamar.net - The General Committee (GC) of the General People's Congress (GPC) held a meeting on Thursday presided by President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the leader of the GPC and discussed many topics and developments in Yemen.

The GC got acquainted with a report on stopping of military operations in Saada governorate and results entailed on ending the insurgency in the area and the plan of reconstruction of what the war destroyed as a result of terrorists acts in some areas of the governorate.

The GC also listened to account on the ongoing dialogue with political parties and organisations represented in the parliament and the GPC's working plan for the upcoming stage.

The Committee discussed a study on proposals of reforming administrative division and elections in different governorates of Yemen and considered the general orientations of the required constitutional amendments especially relating to the second legislative chamber, the local authority and reformation and administrative division in addition to elections.

The General Committee approved the formation of two committee, the first for constitutional and legal amendments and the second for reformation of the administrative division and election in a way guaranteeing the new texts of the local authority law their translation into a strategy for developing the local authority and inclusion of realistic, practical alternatives applicable at the current and future circumstances.

The GC also highly appreciated the heroic and great role of the armed forces and security, the battalions, the local authority of Saada governorate and the citizens of the governorate who offered generous sacrifices and giving in the national duty and fighting the sedition. The Committee also paid tribute to lives of the martyrs from armed forces, security, supportive battalions and the citizens of Saada and praised their heroism for consolidation of security and stability and in preserving the national gains and defending them, in the forefront of which principles of the revolution, the republican system, constitutional legitimacy, the unity, democracy and development, praying God their souls receive the Almighty God mercy.
