Almotamar.net Saba - President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Saturday emphasised the significance of accelerating accomplishment of the constitutional amendments in the manner of taking into consideration of all positive remarks and ideas given on them, pointing out that task of the constitutional amendments committee is a national work concerns the entire people of Yemen and future of their next generations.
In his meeting in Aden Saturday with the Constitutional Committee the President got acquainted with what the Committee achieved of drafting the constitutional articles concerning the initiative of president Saleh to improve the political and democratic system in the country.
During the meeting, the committee presented a report on a draft articles pertaining to the country's authorities based on the principle of separation of powers, creating of the two legislative chambers (Parliament and Shoura Council) and identifying the constitutional accountabilities of each and the tenure of both chambers' members, which was determined to be four years, according to the president's initiative.
It also dealt with draft articles on switching the local authority to a local rue system embodying the principle of the administrative and financial decentralization and widening the people's participation in decision-making in local affairs.
The report also included the constitutional procedures related to ratification of the amendment drafts.
The President's initiative included ten points topped by canceling the government and approving only a presidential system, developing decentralization and giving women 15 percent of seats in high posts.
