Almotamar.net - A parliamentary report prepared by the Parliamentary Trade and Industry Committee mentioned Monday that the number of projects that are licensed and registered at the Investment Authority since its creation in 1992 amounted to 5774 projects and their cost amounted to YR One trillion and 681 billion.
The report on the reality of investment in Yemen received by almotamar.net added that the total projects registered with the Authority and its branches in governorates for the period of July-September of last year reached at 110 projects distributed on various governorates.
The report that is expected to be discussed in the parliament this week mentioned Yemen possesses national investment constituents due to its area and geographical nature, clarifying that lands good for agriculture in Yemen are around one and a half million of hectares and that only 25% of that area is presently cultivated. Added to that is the fish wealth as well as the existence of large local market supported by population growth of 3.5% annually and that necessitates meeting basic needs for the population such as food, lodging, health and labour and that provides an environment enhancing investment efforts.
The report also mentioned about the political circumstances encouraging investments especially support of the political leadership and government programmes besides facilitation of procedures for investors.
