Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh urged security authorities to have more wakefulness and continue efforts in fighting terror. He praised the successes and big gains made by security apparatuses in combating terror and the organised crime.

In his address to the literary and cultural symposium held at Hudeida University Thursday evening, and attended by members of the Parliament, Shoura Council and local councils in the governorate, President Saleh said, "Security authorities cannot prevent terrorist from death because he decided to die, this is a culture of ignorance and backwardness. They (terrorists) do not understand any project for the interest of the country but their projects are of killing and sabotage. "The President cited what happened in Mareb, Hadramout and what happened on Wednesday in the capital Sana'a of terrorist acts representing a threat to the national economy, development, tourism and all interests of the homeland.

The President attributed the terrorist acts taking place here and there to the wrong culture and ill education and said therefore educational establishments bear a big responsibility and parents and the youth the second responsibility in bringing up the youth on high values of the Islamic religion. He added that the terrorist acts are against the entire people rather than the political system; they are against development and stability. Islamic ideology and Islam are exempt from those extremists and this extremism is alien to the sons of Yemen, the President said. President Saleh pledged to hunt down all the criminals wherever they were until they are arrested and to stand trial and punished according to the law.

President Saleh said the role of the political security of the national security is nothing without the role of the citizen in consolidation of security. He said each citizen, scholar, man of letters, poet, politician, military man and security man bears the responsibility for protection of the homeland and its security and stability.

The President wondered why some political forces sometimes fear the experiment of the election of governors of the provinces though it means expansion of the people's participation in the decision-making and there is no worry about that, adding that such fear is absolutely unjustifiable. He wondered also why those political forces fear the people. The people are owners of and source of power. He said the parliamentary elections are to be held next April and hoped that all of the political powers would take part in them.
