Almotamar.net - The Criminal court in Yemen continued in its sitting on Tuesday listening to confessions minutes of a defendant accused of acting against the Yemeni unity after absence of the defendant’s defence body.

In the third trial sitting of the court chaired by Judge Muhsin Alwan the court asked the defendant Qassim Askar Jubran, former Yemen ambassador to Mauritania, on the cause why his defence was absent from attending the court he denied his knowledge about that.
The prosecution then asked the court to continue reading out the defendant’s confessions statements that included his being pensioned in 2006 and continuously receiving his pension salary but he had preferred to work for the so-called “ the Southern Movement” and organising a number of anti-unity activities in Hubaileen area in , Lahj governorate and spreading of hatred among the sons of the one homeland and calling for armed disobedience and rebellion against the law under slogan of “ Najah Movement for the south restoration” which calls for secessionism.

The court asked the defendant on interrogation statements conducted with him he replied that they were forced confessions and that he prepared for activities demanding secessionism. He asked the court to contact his lawyers to attend the trial. The Judge then ordered writing an official memorandum to the lawyers union to inform the defendant’s defence body to attend the prosecution in response to the defendant’s demand and the court was adjourned until next Tuesday.
