Almotamar.net - The Yemeni Foreign Minister (FM) Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi has confirmed anew that the Houthi rebels receive foreign support financially and in arms. Al-Qirbi verified existence of that support in his indication to the rebels' financial capabilities and testimony of some of their former military leaders who had voluntarily surrendered to state authorities.
In an interview published by Elaf website the Yemeni FM did not deny information on existence of foreign elements fighting with the rebels but said ," As a result of the ongoing war these matters are difficult to be certain about them completely", adding that until the government completes its investigations , it will be announced at its time.
Al-Qirbi pointed out that the visit to Yemen by the Arab League (AL) Secretary General came as he is considered as an official from the AL to an Arab country facing some problems. He said, "In the first place he came to be acquainted with the reality of what is going on in Yemen because some media outlets try to deform facts and publish wring information and try to adopt the Houthis stands in a way very far from reality."
The minister expressed his strong regret for some media outlets' attempt to misstate AL Secretary General Mousa's statements on his visit.
The Yemeni FM emphasized that the government since the beginning has undertaken the responsibility of protecting the civilians and mitigating their suffering as a result of the rebellion in Saada even before the world has begun talking about that. He said the people's effort in this respect must be highly appreciated because Yemen is of the few countries, or the only one, whose people readily perform their role in alleviating the suffering of the migrants and offering food and humanitarian assistance to them . Tens of convoys headed for Amran and Saada to offer tents and food to the displaced,
Al-Qirbi added that what has been offered by the Yemenis is so far more than the world has offered , pointing out that some countries have be begun to announce offering assistance to the migrants and expressed his hope that foreign assistance would increase.
