Almotamar.net - The ruling General People’s Congress (GPC) Party in Yemen sent a new letter to the leaderships of the opposition Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) in reply to their letter dated on 31 March 2010 regarding the definition of the mechanism leading to implementation of 23 February 2009 agreement among the political parties represented in parliament. Leaderships of the JMP received the GPC letter last Tuesday 6 April 2010.
The GPC letter to the JMP avoided indulging in what it described vertigoes of replying to the JMP accusations to the GPC, deeming that as useless.
As the GPC overlooked in its letter the JMP’s groundless allegations , the letter was attached with a draft minutes containing 11 points containing proposal for formation of a committee to prepare for the comprehensive national dialogue pursuant to stipulation of 23 February 2009 agreement.
The draft mentioned that the said committee should commit to 23 February agreement , signed between the GPC and the JMP represented in the parliament in letter and spirit and that the agreement signed by political parties and organisations in June 2006 must constitute a basis for determining controls for holding the comprehensive national dialogue.
According to the draft proposal of the GPC the committee shall hold contacts and consultations with the political parties, organisations and forces as well as civil society organisations that would agree on calling them the parties signatory of this minutes and to include any party accepts to the idea of the dialogue to the body of the committee under the same criteria on which the committee for preparing for the comprehensive national dialogue was formed.
The committee should also prepare a programme of the national dialogue and its timetables that would not affect the date for holding the parliamentary elections on 27 April 2011 as stipulated in 23 February agreement.
