Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen has Wednesday his adherence to the pluralist democracy as a civilized choice which there is no departure from, clarifying that the freedom of opinion and expression is guaranteed with peaceful methods away from any acts of riot or violence or conflicts.
That came during the President meeting in Sana’a on Wednesday with the regional director of the American National Democratic Institute (NDI) for the Middle East and North Africa Less Campbell who informed the President on the NDI efforts and its role in supporting the process of democracy in Yemen.
In the meeting, the President has called for stopping demonstrations, sit-ins and media campaigns in the manner preparing the climates for the dialogue and holding the national dialogue through support by the committees of the thirty four-member and the 200-member, formation of a national unity government to supervise parliamentary elections in a way guaranteeing holding them in free, honest and transparent climates and under local and international observation.
According to the Yemeni News Agency Saba the President has confirmed what he has previously announced on not nominating himself in the presidential elections scheduled to be held in 2013. He pointed out that what he announced in the joint meeting of the parliament and the shura council in that there would be no extension, no bequeathing and no renewal, and that he is committed, according to his responsibilities as President of the Republic, to keep the security and stability of the homeland and peace of the citizens.
President Saleh has also praised the role of the NDI in supporting the democratic process.
The meeting has also discussed the current situations in the region.
