(KUNA) -- - Yemeni Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Ali Al-Ahmadi emphatically denied in remarks published on Sunday reports that Yemeni officials were not content with Kuwait's decision to allocate USD 200 million as a loan for his country.

Interviewed by the Arabic-language Kuwaiti daily newspaper, Al-Seyassah, Dr. Al-Ahmadi described the reports as unfounded, and that no such statements had been made by any Yemeni official.

The Yemeni Government and people actually appreciate the decision by sisterly Kuwait to contribute with USD 200 in soft loans for Yemen, the diplomat told the local daily newspaper.

He emphatically denied reports that Yemeni officials expressed displeasure at the decision, during the donors' conference for Yemen that was held in London. The conferees pledged nearly USD 4.7 billion for the next four-year period for Yemen starting of 2007.

"We also admire Kuwait's continuous contributions to Yemen since 1964 that left substantial and effective impact on the comprehensive development in the country," Dr. Al-Ahmadi said.

He also thanked the other donors' states that pledged USD 4.7 billion to finance the nation's development plans for the period between 2006 and 2010, indicating that the allocated fund would cover 85 percent of Yemen's needs for financial resources to press ahead with the development schemes.
