Almotamar Net - The governor of Hadramout, south Yemen Abdullah Hajir called upon the people of Yemen to nominate the Island of Socotra to be one of the world seven wonders, pointing out that would open for the island a spacious opportunity for investment, tourism and development. In a statement to almotamar.net governor Hajir revealed of a government trend for following up promotion for the site specified for nominating the island. He urged the Yemenis to vote for nominating the island on the island's website www.yemen.tourism.com and also called on the media to promote for displaying the island of Socotra with its treasure of landmarks and historical sites in addition to rare living creatures. He added that vote counting will be in August next year.

The Yemeni ministry of tourism has recently announced registration of Socotra Island among theist of voting for the natural Seven Wonders of the World that will be adopted by the Swiss New Seven Wonders Establishment and the results of voting will be announced in August 2008.
