Meetings of the First Forum of Democracy in the Arab Homeland begin Wednesday under the motto "Towards Better Democratic Future" attended by a number of civil society organisations in Yemen and Arab countries.

The Forum discusses over two days many premises, mainly the wise governance, woman empowerment, freedom of opinion and expression and democratic culture in education curricula. Chairman of the Arab preparatory committee of the forum Dr Abdulkarim al-Eryany said it is expected that the 1st Sana'a Forum to be an Arab annual activity aimed at creating an Arab strategy for the Arab civil society towards achievement of democratic aspirations for societies of the region. He said the meeting is gong to represent a clear message for spreading democracy, the call for reform and sovereignty of the law, social action, pluralism, transfer of power, separation of powers and independence of judiciary and respect of human rights in addition to freedom of opinion and expression.
