The agreement was signed for the Yemeni side by Ali Mohammed al-Kuhlani and for the Syrian side by Salim al-Nasser. The agreement is part of cooperation with the Syrian State Establishment for Grain Trade and Industry within implementation of a protocol signed by the Yemeni Economic Establishment and the Syrian Establishment and accordingly Yemen will be supplied in the next season necessary quantities of wheat.

After signing the agreement Yemen's minister of trade and industry Dr Yahya al-Mutawakil affirmed the importance of strengthening relations of trade and economic exchange to be in parallel with the distinguished political relations between the two countries. He said the signing of Thursday's protocol is extension of the economic and trade relations that have been recently active in addition to exchange of products and that there was a need for exploring more effective mechanisms and to apply them in the practical field that serves trade and develops the mutual economic interests. The minister also welcomed the Syrian investments in Yemen, reviewing the investment opportunities and privileges offered to investors by investment law and its amendments approved by the Yemeni cabinet.
