It is to be attended by elite of academics, researchers, representatives for Yemeni universities, politicians and representatives for political parties and organisations.

President of Taiz University Mohammed Abdullah al-Soufi said the symposium which is to be held under the motto of ' Constitutional Amendments: Reality and Ambition' proceeds from keenness on laying foundations and principles of the free and constructive dialogue between all colours of the political spectrum in addition to the national importance in enhancement of the democratic process that Yemen is witnessing.

Al-Soufi has also made it clear that the symposium aims at discussing the constitutional amendments proposes by president Saleh.

The dean of the Law faculty at the university of Taiz Dr Mohammed Mohammed al-Durra, the coordinator of the symposium said the over two days of working sessions the event will explain stances of researchers and politicians towards the president's draft of amendments. He pointed out that the symposium would try to answer to all major queries particularly the extent of the constitutional amendments meeting of the expectations and aspirations of the Yemeni people and what does the presidential system mean and other things about those constitutional amendments.
