almnotamar.net - The US Department of State has granted Salwa al-Sarhi the Swanee Hunt Award for upgrading the role of the woman in drafting policies and gains in the field of enhancing the woman role as partner in the political and economic action in Yemen.

According to a statement issued by the American embassy in Sana'a, a copy of which deceived by almotamar.net the acting director of foreign aid at the embassy granted he award to al-Sarhi who works for the embassy for seven years and now she is a chief of the team of democracy and governance in the USAID at a party of the Annual Award for Excellence in American Diplomacy in recognition of her role in pushing forward the woman leadership in Yemen and empowering the woman popularly.

Al-Sarhi said she presents the award to all the Yemeni women who work hard for the improvement of the life of their families and society and achieving their political and economic rights and added that the award represented a reminding to the Yemeni men and women of the importance of equality of gender for advancement in life and progress of Yemen.
