almotamar.net - Member of the Yemen parliament Abdulaziz Jabbari called Saturday the rich neighbouring countries to help Yemen in participating in accepting African refugees and asked the government to of Yemen to install refugee camps. He said the refugees should not be allowed to leave camps bur in certain cases due to their causing of security problems.

MP Bassam al-Shater, member of the external committee participating with the committee of rights in preparation of a report on refugees responded that Yemen is the only signatory state in the Arab Peninsula on receiving African refugees, affirming that even in case African refugees headed for the Gulf states they will directly leave them for Yemen because there is no agreement signed between those states and the UNHCR Commission as is the case with Yemen.
A parliamentary joint committee from the external and affairs and rights has discussed in a report by members of parliament and attended by Interior Ministry Undersecretary Abdulrahman al-Barawi conditions of African refugees in Yemen, indicating of bad situations experienced by especially the Ethiopian the refugees and recommended the parliament to oblige the government presenting a law on asylum.
