almotamar.net - Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdulrahmnan Bin Hamad al-Attiyah revealed Sunday the formation of an economic committee pursuant to article 27 of the economic agreement specialised in considering the issues that have not been decided.

While attending a lecture delivered by Dr Abdulaziz al-Uwaishoq, director of the GCC Economic Integration Administration in Riyadh on Sunday al-Attiyah pointed out that Yemen will soon join the GCC as a major and active member of he Council so that to be the 7th member of the GCC.

According to report by the Saudi Al-Jazeera newspaper al-Attiyah said Yemen's accession is done under a call by King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz for Yemen's joining of he GCC as member and that proposal was accepted by the GCC leaders, explaining that the general secretariat is at present carrying out a study on Yemen situation and to present a report to the leaders on Yemen's joining as effective member.
