The resident director of NDI in Yemen Peter Dimitrov pointed out that moving towards the presidential system is considered among more important points of constitutional and legal amendments declared by President Ali Abdullah Saleh. They may leave probable impact on the shape of the political system. He said it is important to discuss more important aspects of Yemens political environment, including the tribes, the media, judiciary and parliament in the light of the presidential and parliamentary systems.

The resident director of NDI in Yemen Peter Dimitrov pointed out that moving towards the presidential system is considered among more important points of constitutional and legal amendments declared by President Ali Abdullah Saleh. They may leave probable impact on the shape of the political system. He said it is important to discuss more important aspects of Yemen's political environment, including the tribes, the media, judiciary and parliament in the light of the presidential and parliamentary systems.

Deputy resident director of the NDI Murad Dhafir said in addition to discussion ongoing in Yemen on the future picture of the political system and what suggestions for clear solutions in Yemen, any discussions must take into consideration experiments of any other countries and lessons derived by those countries during carrying out similar processes, indicating that the conference would aim at guaranteeing that the amendments will result in a goof governance comparable to other systems in the region and in the world.

The NDI has invited all journalists to attend the conference to be directed by Dr Wissam Saada, a well-known expert in political systems in Beirut. The conference will be permeated with speeches by academics from Sana'a University, representatives for civil society organisations, leaders of thought, political activists, representatives of international organisations and embassies in Yemen for discussing the various aspects of the presidential and parliamentary rule systems.
