Almotamar.net - The National Committee for Woman (NCW) is preparing to participate with national and international organisations with a large media presence in celebrating the Woman World Day on Saturday 8 March. The celebration is scheduled to be held at the cultural Centre in Sana'a and to be attended by high ranking government representatives and organisations from all governorates of Yemen.

A statement issued by the NCW, a copy of which received by almotamar.net, mentioned that the event is to cast light on the draft legal amendments, under deliberation at the parliament, and the significance of approving them to ensure full rights to the woman in the light of the Islamic Sharia(law) in the private and public life after the parliament has actually approved a group of legal texts, especially those pertaining to the laws of work, securities, salaries, social securities that have been recently discussed and approved by committee of workforce and social affairs at the parliament.

The question of implementing the quota system in the upcoming parliamentary elections will be given great interest. The quota system was at the top of the president of the republic's attention in his initiative for the political reform by representing the woman with 15% at the parliament.

The National Committee of the Woman said the last year has seen positive steps towards enhancement of the woman role at the positions of decision-making as the movement of appointments at government institutions included women here and there in a wise direction for opening larger horizons for the women in assuming leading posts in the process of shouldering the responsibility for development in Yemen.
