Almotamar.net - General Secretariat of the General People's Congress (GPC) praised Tuesday the efforts exerted by members of the local councils all over Yemen and their interaction with elections of governors which is considered a big achievement and gain for the people of Yemen.
MEETING OF THE General Secretariat today chaired by the acting Secretary General Abdulrahman al-Akwaa considered the results of the elections of the mayor of the capital and governors of Yemeni provinces and the democratic activity Yemen has seen during this process that is considered a qualitative transfer on the road leading to the local rule system with large powers and an historic event in the history of the people of Yemen.
The meeting valued the sense of responsibility of all at the forefront of that the members of the local councils affiliated to parties of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) who have participated in the elections out of their keenness on interaction with requirements of the masses and overcoming political pressures exercised on them by leaderships of the JMP.
The General Secretariat meeting studied also the cabinet reshuffle that came in response to assessment of the government performance a year after its formation. It considered that as representing the support for the government for continuing its efforts in implementing the electoral programme in different areas and intensification of efforts for preserving security and stability of the country and developing services aspects, expansion of attention to investments and administrative and financial reforms in preparation for moving to the local rule.
The meeting also called on all political parties and organisations as well as civil society organist ions to shoulder their national responsibilities and to work as one rank for the establishment of security and stability of the society and abandon those outlaws and instigators of seditions.
The General Secretariat has also studied a number of reports on party organisation politically, information and organizational and has taken necessary resolutions about them. The meeting also affirmed the importance of reconsidering the relationship with members of the political process comprised of political parties and organisations and civil society organisations in the light of results of dialogue and future orientations for preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
