Almotamar.net - Archaeological excavation operation in Adiyat Alghuraf area in Hadramout Valley carried out by a team from Office of the Antiquities & Museum Authority in Hadramout Valley and desert resulted in discovery of defensive fortifications and winged statues having magnificent and amazing artistic designs.

Director General of the antiquities Authority Abdulrahman al-Saqqaf told almotamar.net that the discoveries at the site would help researchers to come out with a scientific formula in tracing back the historical and civilization centuries of Hadramout area.

He pointed out that the discovered sites despite of their being small in area they give great archaeological and tourist importance and value as the sites are located at the meeting point of more important valleys in the area of Hadramout, the Valley of Suru, and due to their dating to a period of pre-Islam, more specifically to the first A.D century.

Mr al-Saqqaf added that the site was object of the first excavation operations in 1981 and many spectacular archaeological antique pieces were discovered in it and are displayed at the halls of Sayoun Museum. Many of those antiques were part of the roving archaeological exhibition of Yemen that toured many world capitals, especially western and European, over more than ten years.
