Almotamar.net - The joint parliamentary committee plans to submit complementary report for studying concerning amendments of the election law, beginning of next week. Member of the constitutional committee MP Naji Ahmed Atiq on Thursday said the joint committee has been holding meetings since last Monday on drafting proposal of the parliament speaker into a legal text.

Sating to almotamar.net he said the new text proposed to be submitted to the parliament on Saturday gives a space for parties accord on the formation of the supreme commission for elections, clarifying that the amendments supported by the parliamentary committee include a txt giving two options. The first option makes formation of the commission on parties accord on basis of either adoption of the partisan representation in parliament or the number of votes each parliamentary bloc has gained.

In case accord was not achieved, the second option entrusts the Higher Judiciary Council and members of parliament the selection of judges to occupy membership of the supreme commission of the elections and for that end a decision by the president of the republic will be issued.

Amid the boycotting of sittings of parliament of the last two weeks by blocs of the opposition Joint Meeting Parties, in protest to amendments stipulating formation of the elections commission from judges instead of party accord, the parliament last Monday adopted the addition of the option of accord to the draft amendment that was presented by the government last November.
