Almotamar.net - Yemen parliament has Saturday on draft amendments of the general elections and referendum law one article by one article, postponing the final approval until Sunday.

The MPs linked the final endorsement of the law amendments to providing names of candidates for membership of the Supreme Commission for elections by the political forces. Speaker of the parliament told heads of parliamentary blocs to provide the parliament with names of their candidates to the committee for voting along with voting on amendments.

O the other hand head of the Nasserite bloc Sultan al-Atwni proposed that amendments should include a condition of special majority not absolute as it is in the draft amendments as he requested the adoption the two thirds in the voting by the supreme committee for elections on bills and executive measures for her electoral process as well as the appointments in the commission. He also viewed restricting the electoral right to executive officials on elections and nomination, unlike what the amendments include.

MPS of the Joint Meeting Parties had walked out of the parliament session in protest to not deciding the questing of releasing the detainees and then to return to the session but without the MPS of the Yemen socialist Party (YSP) and announcing their support for the voting on the draft amendments after their meeting with the President of the Republic that resulted in directives to immediate release of those the JMP claims they are political prisoners.
