" Almotamar.net - Head of the parliamentary bloc of the General People's Congress (GPC) Sultan al-Barakani said, " The GPC has offered many concessions for the democratic process and to appease the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) , indicating that the GPC was willing to hand over the elections commission fully to the JMP if it displayed a good will and desire for the democratic work. "

Al-Barakani accused the JMP of working for postponing the elections because it does not possess a clear programme to offer to the electorate after it had sustained a severe defeat in the previous local and presidential elections. In statements to journalists he disclosed about demands presented by the JMP for postponing the elections for two full years.

Al-Barakani refused to say that Yemen would enter into a crisis and said the country is ruled by constitutional institutions that undertake running it and they are not connected with the JMP procrastinations. He added that the dialogue with the JMP that lasted for almost two years has not led to any result, pointing out that difference3s between the Yemen Socialist Party (YSP) and the Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Islah) on chairmanship of the elections commission was behind not presenting names of their representatives to the parliament.

On the intention of the JMP intention of boycotting the elections, al-Barakani said it was their own affair and," The voter would not wait the JMP for 6 years," indicating the local and foreign organisations confirm that the JMP is behind the delay of the electoral procedures and if the committees did not begin the work in the field on the 26 of this August that would man postponement of the elections.

On his part the chairman of the constitutional committee at the parliament Ali Abu Hulaqa accused the JMP attempting to drag the country to a constitutional vacuum by procrastination in the procedures aimed at organisation of constitutional dues.
