Al-Shamy added the GPC has no any restraints or conditions beforehand and all that is keen on is that the constitution and the law are the reference.

Al-Shamy talked on and initiative submitted to the Joint Meeting Parties JMP by the GPC pertaining to reconsidering the composition of the election supreme commission and voting on amending the election law in addition to setting up committees of polling in the next stage by 54% 46% in line with what was done in the presidential elections conducted in September 2006.

On the issues requiring constitutional amendments al-Shamy said in a statement to Democracy Supplement of the Al-Jumhuriya Newspaper that time does not allow engagement in those issues and discussing them "because we are at the thresholds of the elections."
