By: Jamil Al-Jadabi - SANAA, almotamar.net- I dont know about any suggestions or agreements between the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) and General Peoples Congress (GPC) to support women in the presidential election, said Rashida al-Qaili, a Yemeni female journalist.
Commenting on the JMP official spokesman, al-Qaili said it was the first time she heard his statements that the GPC refused an agreement to support women in the presidential elections. I think if it was true, then the JMP or GPC would tell me about it, she added.
As an opposition member, I think the oppositions stance towards women candidates is worse than that of the GPC. Unfortunately, when opposition parties have differences with the GPC, womens rights become always the victim, al-Qaili stated.
Al-Qaili refused to tell the experience of her candidacy to run for the presidential elections, justifying she has stances towards the JMP.
Moreover, al-Qaili called on other women with different political affiliations to stand united towards what has not been fulfilled by others to support women candidates in the local councils.
