Almotamar Net - Head of the foreign relations office at the ruling General People’s Congress  GPC party in Yemen Dr Mohammed Abdulmajid  Qubati on Saturday met the regional director of the Arab Gulf States at the National Democratic Institute NDI Mrs Katherine and the resident detector of NDI  in Sana’a Heather Therien. Almotamar.net - Head of the foreign relations office at the ruling General People�s Congress GPC party in Yemen Dr Mohammed Abdulmajid Qubati on Saturday met the regional director of the Arab Gulf States at the National Democratic Institute NDI Mrs Katherine and the resident detector of NDI in Sana�a Heather Therien.

Mrs Therien presented in the meeting detailed explanation of orientations and tasks undertaken by the NDI. And both of Katherine and Therien praised the Yemeni advanced role and its serious tendency to develop the Yemeni democratic experience and the partnership with relevant parties at the regional and international levels out of Yemen�s initiative and participation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh at the sea Island summit conference held in the United States of America in 2005.

The two NDI officials have also affirmed the importance of embarking on the awaited dialogue between the Yemeni political parties represented at the parliament in the manner contributing to strengthening the political development and assisting in establishment of security and stability in Yemen.

For his part Dr Qubati stressed keenness of the GPC on development of relations of cooperation and partnership with all those parties, valuing the role of the NDI and the assistance it offers through the activities it carries out in Yemen.
Qubati also briefed representatives of the NDI on the experience of the local authority conferences and their importance with regard to developing the experience of the local authority and its natural evolvement to into the local rule entertaining full powers. He confirmed that this orientation is in compatible with what has been agreed on with the parties represented in the parliament and in the way paving the road to issues of dialogue towards approval of an accord strategy for a local rule system.

Dr Qubati also presented a brief explanation on issues of the dialogue which is supposed to have been started between the parties signatory of the agreement of postponing the parliamentary elections. Those issues are related development of the political system in Yemen, pointing out that the issues of dialogue are in line with the initiative presented by President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2007. The President�s initiative was about the constitutional amendments, political reforms, the full-powered local rule and development of the electoral system and local rule system for improvement of Yemeni democracy towards completion of modernizing horizons of building the Yemeni modern state of law, order and integrated institutions.
