By:almotamar.net - TAIZ- Abdul-Elah Qassim al-Khameri, Sheikh of al-Akhmour's sheikhs, announced he quitted the Islah Party, along with a large number of his relatives and followers, and joined the General People's Congress (GPC).
In his first statement, Sheikh al-Khameri told almotamar.net that he has been favoring the GPC since its establishment in the 1980s, and that due to personal differences with some GPC leaders in Taiz, he preferred to stay away from the GPC.
Being conscious of dangerous moves on the part of the Islah, Sheikh al-Khameri decided to go back to the GPC.
Differences are going on between us and some GPC leaders in Taiz, and President Ali Abdullah Saleh has promised us to work towards solving them, Sheikh al-Khameri noted.
Al-Khameri also called on all sheikhs and prominent social figures of Yemen to vote for the man who is appropriate for the country and its people, noting that it is impossible to bring a man who failed to direct a ministry to be a president for Yemen.
President Ali Abdullah Saleh is more suitable for directing Yemen, especially as he has vast experience of the world, he added.
