Almotamar.net, Saba - Prime Minister Ali Mujawar has affirmed that Yemen is concerned to reinforce its partnership with the international community in counterterrorism and, at the same time, refuses any foreign interference in its local affairs.

In an interview with the Arab Daily published Thursday, Mujawar said "we are confident of our military and armed forces ability to end confrontations with terrorism although Al-Qaeda system is worldwide and we need an international partnership to confront this danger," making clear "the kind of support we need is represented by logistical, material and informative backing to reinforce our abilities, but any foreign interference in our domestic affairs is firmly rejected."

We need support of the international community for development in Yemen to help accelerate the comprehensive development in the country as it is the remedy for Yemen problems at the present time, he added.

Mujawar continued to say that "Yemen is balanced and keen to develop its ties with different countries and there is coordination with donor countries with respect to counterterrorism as Yemen has become a real partner in this domain.

Through cooperation and partnership, Yemen has managed to achieve very important steps and as long as Yemen is abiding by its commitments, the international community has also to commit to its commitments towards Yemen to contribute to supporting its efforts in overcoming challenges and to help it move towards the sustainable and comprehensive development, Premier said, noting that if the required support is not provided, reasons of extremism will continue to exist.

He referred to the huge media exaggeration on terrorism in Yemen, particularly by some Arab media means, while the fact is not as so reported.

"Actually, we do not deny existence of terrorism but it is not that overstated way, and in spite of the limited acts by Al-Qaeda, we have paid heavily before 9/11 and we were among the first who warned against the danger of Al-Qaeda but there were no listening ears," Mujawar said.

He mentioned the successes realized by Yemeni forces in hitting Al-Qaeda hideouts and tracking down many of them, affirming determination of Yemen to continue efforts in counterterrorism.
