Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Saturday held meetings with a number of Arab leaders on the sidelines of the Arab summit in the Libyan city of Surt.

President Saleh met Emir of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, President of Algeria Abdul Aziz Bouteflika, President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh and President of the state of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.

The President has also met a number of heads of the Arab delegations participating in the Arab summit .he met head of Egypt�s delegation the Prime Minister Dr Ahmed Nadhif, head of Oman the Deputy Premier Fahd Bin Mahmoud Al Said, head of the UAE delegation the Governor of Um Al-Quain Sheikh Saud Bin Rashid Al-Mualla, head of the Moroccan delegation Prince Rashid Bin Al-Hassan and head of Iraq delegation the Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zibari.

The meetings discussed relations and areas of cooperation between Yemen and the country of each of them and ways of enhancing and developing tem. The meetings also discussed the topics on the agenda of the Arab summit and coordination of stances regarding them for coming out with fruitful results serving the joint Arab action and enhancing capability of the nation of facing the challenges.

President Saleh also met in Surt on Saturday the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and the special envoy of the Russian President, the Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Sultanov.

During those meetings the President discussed relations of Yemen with each of Turkey, Italy and Russia and horizons of enhancing them in addition to developments in regional and international arenas of common interest on top of which the situations in the area, particularly the developments of situations occupied Palestinian territories in the light of the Israeli escalation.

President Saleh also held a meeting with the Arab League Secretary General Amr Mousa. The meeting included talk on Yemen initiative for activation of the joint Arab action, referred to the present Arab summit and the goals targeted by this initiative for establishment of a union of Arab states for translating aspirations of the nation and cementing its capabilities of confronting challenges and dangers facing it and the Arab nationalist security.

The meeting also touched on developments of the situations in the Palestinian arena in the light of the Israeli escalation, besides discussion of topics on the Arab summit agenda.
