Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh has on Sunday visited the historical city of Tarim of Hadramout province. The President expressed his happiness for visiting the city which has been chosen as capital of Islamic culture for the year 2010.

During his visit the President pointed out what the city treasures of rich Islamic heritage, whether its historical palaces or its valuable library that is rich with various types of knowledge and the Islamic heritage or the city�s and its sons pioneering contributions to in serving the Islamic religion and what it possesses of Islamic heritage that can be benefited from at present and in the future.

President Saleh said this city has continued to be a source of enlightening radiation and inspiration with what it presented of educational message sending its shining to spacious horizons.

The president pointed out the state attention paid to the city of Tarim that is rich in its spectacular cultural and architectural heritage, whether with its many beautiful architectural palaces or its cultural treasure and prominent figures who enriched the Islamic library with their knowledge and works, confirming the importance of benefiting from these palaces and making them centres for cultural development and preserving the heritage.

President Saleh was received in Tarim city by the Yemeni mister of culture, governor of Hadramout and its senior officials and scholars and social personalities of the city.
