Almotamar.net - Specialised First Instance Criminal Court in Sana’a held Monday the first of its sittings for the trial of four defendants accused of illegal communicating and contacting with Iran.

In the session of the court chaired by Judge Muhsin Mohammed Alwan, the court faced the four defendants: Muamar Mohammed al-Abdali, 35, from the capital, Walid Mohammed Sharafudin, 33, employee in the capital, Abdullah Ali al-Dailami, 34, teacher from Thamar and Sadiq Abdulrahman al-Sharafi, 26, student in the capital.

The court said the four had, during he period 1994-25 August 2009, made calls with a foreign country by illegal contact with those working for the interest of Iran and they had received support, funding and necessary instruments for carrying out intellectual and political projects serving illegitimate Iranian interests in Yemen.

In its indictment the prosecution said the defendants delivered reports to Iran on the political, social and economic situations in Yemen and information and pictures of security institutions , military camps and sea ports , islands and sites with the intention of causing damage to the Republic’s war , political and economic status.

The prosecution also accused the defendants of getting involved in armed gangs for committing criminal acts as carried out the tasks assigned t them by leaders of rebellion and mutiny in Saada axis through receiving money and weapons from multi sides and sending them t the Houthis in Saada province for serving their purpose in confronting the state.

When asked on the charges against them the first defendant denied them, the second refused to recognize the court and the trial and the third and fourth denied the charges.

The court decided postponing the trial to the Sunday after the next.
