The meeting congratulated the Yemeni people on the Democracy Day of 27 April, affirming that he Day represented a bright democratic shining and an important turning point in the pluralist democratic approach to which the people committed as a civilized means for construction and progress of the homeland. It said the GPC would continue sticking to that civilized choice embodying the people�s right to express their free will in the ballot boxes and a translation of the principle of peaceful transfer of power.

The General Committee also expressed its congratulations to workers of Yemen on the May Day, valuing the efforts of the Yemeni workers in development and construction in the country.

The meeting got acquainted with results of dialogue with the opposition Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) for the carrying out of February 2009 agreement. The Committee expressed its regret over the continuation of sophistry argument by parties of the JMP on carrying out the agreement and deviating facts as included instatement issued by parties of the JMP concerning the results of the meeting held on Wednesday 21 April 2010 in which the GPC presented its vision for beginning the process of dialogue away from impractical stances and conditions. The General Committee re-affirms the GPC�s commitment to dialogue as a way for solving all the issues that concern the homeland, calling on the members of the JMP to immediately begin the process of dialogue for the implementation of February agreement.

The GPC General Committee affirmed its commitment to holding the parliamentary elections on the fixed date of 27 April 2011 as it is a constitutional and democratic right that cannot be conceded because the elections represent the essence of the democratic process.

The Committee also condemned all acts of sabotage and terror perpetrated by elements violating the constitution and the law and order, at the forefront of which the acts committed by elements of al-Qaeda organisation, the latest of which the attack on motorcade of the British ambassador to Yemen.
