almotamar.net - An official source at the Yemeni Interior Ministry on Thursday downplayed significance of warnings made by the American embassy to its employees during the past days requesting them not to frequent one of the major hotels in Sana’a.

The source said those measures the American embassy takes sometimes are routine ones and mostly the motives are precautionary. Receiving an SMS via a mobile phone from a lunatic for example threatening of doing something and then it appears to be just a practical joke or merely for annoying, may lead to issue such warnings by some embassies but they are not based on sure information on the existence of real threats.

The source affirmed there were no threats against any embassy on phones sent by any mad person and that the security measures taken around different installations , including hotels, are strict and do not allow any violation . He said sabotage and terrorist elements are concerned with creating confusing information rather than that reflecting their ability to commit an act . The aim of those elements is to try to disturb situations and causing panic among others
