President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi returned home on Friday after he paid a successful visit to China.

In a statement to Saba, President Hadi described his several-day visit to China as historic and successful and said that he had held meetings and talks with Chinese president Xi Jinping, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Chinese businessmen.

He said that his meeting with President Xi Jinping was positive and will have fruitful results in the near future, adding they agreed to work quickly to set up power plants with high quality specifications as well as agreement on expanding and deepening the Aden Container Terminal (ACT) at a cost of US$508 million.

The project includes constructing an additional container berth with 1,000 meters in length and a depth of 18 meters and deepening and extending the shipping channels.

Under the agreement, the CHEC also will deepen and expand a vessels turning basin and installing giant gantry cranes and a mobile container crane to raise the capacity of handling up to1.5 million containers per year, in addition to carry out some extensions of containers storage yard, service facilities, administrative facilities and a central maintenance workshop.

The president said that the talks included development and modernization of Aden and Taiz airports and other projects related to development as well as understandings on a number of other projects in the areas of infrastructure.

He pointed out that a delegation of the China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) will visit Yemen to inspect the conditions of the Aden refinery and determine the level required to modernize it.

The president also called on Chinese companies to invest in Yemen in various fields of oil, gas, iron, zinc, gold, fishing and tourism.
